“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.  Micah 6:8

Perspectives from Pastor Bill Daywalt

This poem is appropriate for Martin Luther King Day.

You announce my ways are wanton,
that I fly from man to man,
but if I’m just a shadow to you,
could you ever understand ?

We have lived a painful history,
we know the shameful past,
but I keep on marching forward,
and you keep on coming last.

Equality, and I will be free.
Equality, and I will be free.

Take the blinders from your vision,
take the padding from your ears,
and confess you’ve heard me crying,
and admit you’ve seen my tears.

Hear the tempo so compelling,
hear the blood throb in my veins.
Yes, my drums are beating nightly,
and the rhythms never change.

Equality, and I will be free.
Equality, and I will be free.

Sunday School News from the Sunday School Prophets

Noah Navigates His Ark
Breaking news from the Presbyterian Prophet’s star reporter, Bible Believer. Imagine Noah and his ark full of people and animals landing in Ashtabula Harbor or floating up the Ashtabula River or Conneaut Creek. Listen to the elephants trumpet, the lions roar, and the pigs squeal.

Imagine Mrs. Noah and the wives of Shem, Ham, and Japheth trying to keep the ark clean, mopping up muddy footprints on the floor, and Noah feeding all of the animals.
Would you get on the ark when it stopped and travel with Noah until Lake Erie or Conneaut Creek waters rose high enough to make it float again? Why or why not?

God told Noah to build the ark because a great flood was coming to cover the earth, and he wanted Noah and his family and the animals of the world to be safe and dry. People made fun of Noah because he was building a big boat and they didn’t believe in listening to God or God’s promises. Noah loved God enough to listen to him and build the ark. He sailed in the ark with his family and the animals without really knowing where he was going and how long his voyage would be.

Noah trusted God enough to make the Ark and use it just because God asked him to do it.

Our journey with God can seem as big as Noah’s Ark and as impossible as the idea of Noah’s Ark landing in Ashtabula Harbor or floating up the Ashtabula River or Conneaut Creek. But we need to trust him just like Noah did and make the journey with Him.

Coloring Pages: Noah Trusted God

God asked Noah to build an ark,

To keep him and his family dry,

When God asks us to do something for Him,

We should listen and give it a try.

How do we know what God wants us to do?

Or where He wants us to start?

Let’s open our ears to his voice,

And let him work in our heart.

Prayer: It’s Me God, Talking to You

Dear God,

Please listen to me while I’m talking to you,

And hug me and hold my hand.
